The time was 09.00 and we glad to be finally doing something other than hanging around doing nothing. The sky was cloudy but when we got on the boat the heavens opened and it hasn't stopped since! Bloody typica, the day when we finally get to do something it rains. At least i wasn't sea sick. We didn't let the rain put us off and once we got there we went snorkelling. This was excellent, the best place i have ever done it. The coral was very colourful and the fish equally so. It was beautiful and we had lots of fun. After an excellent dinner of freshly cooked food and fruit we went for a dip in the pool where we had more fun messing around in the pissing rain. However, the island was only small, about 60 metres or so wide adn there isn't a lot to do especially with the weather being so bad. So at the moment we are bored sitting around doing nothing, waiting for the boat to come back at 17.00!

18.00 - What a coincidence, we met some American's that we were talking to the other night whilst we were getting off the boat. We explained what had happened the other night about going to Beachcomber Island. They invited us to come over to their hotel in the evening. We went along and had quite a good time. I was fairly drunk by the end of it. The hotel was very nice, a five star job! My friends are off tomorrow so i will have to find some more.

We missed most of the entertainment but afterwards we were invited to a private party where there were lots of Americans and some English. We talked a lot about differences between English, American and Canadian speech whic proved to be quite funny e.g. screw off instead of fuck off! And thongs are sandals in Canada. After this party we cam back to the hostel where we met a guy who was supposedly the creator of Hotmail! He turned out to be very dodgey. He seemed to know everything about everyone everywhere! It was quite scary in fact, he never shut up talking about places he had gone that other people knew as well. I was fresh by the time we got in at 02.00, my first drink for over a week! I have been swimming this morning in the hostel pool, the weather is a lot better today.

20.30 - Well in the end we didn't go to Beachcomber Island. There was a big mix up with the lads we were supposed to be going with so we ended up staying at the hostel all day doing nothing. The thing is that we had already checked out of the hostel so we had to go to the hostel next door instead which isn't so bad. It's more comfortable if anything. Tomorrow we are going on a South Pacific tour which should be good. At least we will be doing something! The weather has been excellent, cloudy by very hot. I got bitten to shreds by mozzies last night and i can't stop scratching.

First impressions are good so far although it is a bit quiet. First impressions are good so far although it is a bit quiet. Looking around there seems plenty to do but a lot of it seems to be tours for several days which isn't what i want really as i have already booked all my nights here. The facilities seem quite good, they even have a pool table as well as a swimming pool! It's a good job they have travel centre or i wouldn't know where to start. I have to say that the best thing about this place is that the dorms are mixed! Roll on sleepless nights! The plane journey here was quite uncomfortable due to the cabin being absolutely freezing and having to take a detour due to bad weather or something. Fiji isn't quite how i expected it to be. I thought it would be quite modern and luxurious like Hawaii but it seems run down with poverty. It isn't like a shanty town but there seems to be a fairly low standard of living. I feel quite lonely at the moment especially since no one seems to talk.

12.03 - Well i didn't have to wait long, i have made friends with some girls from Canada (one of them is a real hottie!). Will try hang round with them. The weather is not very good, hot but cloudy. Hopefully it will get better.

18.50 - A good day today. I think i have made some good friends. It's a shame they are going on Friday. Fiji isn't what i expected it to be. I thought it would be white sand and sun. Instead there has been torrential rain!

The weather was good and i had some music with me. I got to see downtown Honolulu and Waikiki too. The Peal Harbour museum was free and very interesting. It told the history of the attack and of the ships that were sunk. It was quite small though. We then took a boat out to the wreck of the only ship still left sunk in the harbour, the USS Arizona. There is a memorial built over the sip that doesn't actually touch it but allows you to see the deck and gun turrets. There was also a list of all those that died on the sip during the attack. Before going on the boat to the memorial, we watched a short video which was quite sad. When we got back to shore, i went to another museum next to Pearl Harbour. This one was about submarines and included a tour around a real sub. It was good to see all the torpedo tubes and how small the living quarters were. I would have hated to live in those cramped conditions for months on end. I was given a walkman to listen to ask i walked around but i turned it off because is was crap. I headed back home after here. A good day overall.

I didn't get any breakfast at the hotel for some reason, i don't know what happened and i couldn't understand what the lady was on about! At least i got myself a good sleep and was up at 06.30, a first for me! The weather is great at the moment. Sun, sea and sand. This morning i asked for a taxi to the Youth Hostel and a limo turns up to take me round the corner! That's what i call service.

14.37 - Had some dinner although it wasn't that great. The beach is fantastic and there are plenty of shops although they all seem to be called ABC! the hostel is good, basic but i has everything i need. I need to buy some shorts and a towel so i can get myself onto the beach.

18.43 - Where are all the restaurants? I have looked almost everywhere but i can't find any. I will have to ask the man in reception. Look like i might have to buy food to cook, something i'm not looking forward to! I have bought postcards which i write sometime this week. The video diary is going well. I can't wait to get back and watch it, it should be quite funny. Boy it's hot, i am pissing like a fountain because of all the fluids i'm drinking!

After packing my stuff (or most of it) and checking out of the YHA, i went down to the beach where i did a bit of swimming and read my book. I decided to go for an authentic McDonalds for dinner just so i could compare the quality compared to back home. Although it was better and i got some fresh pineapples, it was still the same old shite (i still ate it of course)! After lunch i went back to the hostel to drop off some stuff then i went back to the beach to try my hand at surfing. Although i enjoyed it, i didn't cath many waves, there were too many other surfers about and i didn't want to crash into them! The waves were fairly big and there was coral beneath me so i was a bit scared as well! I went back to the hostel again after this and watched the Mask Of Zorro then i went out for a walk where i endulged in another ice cream from Cold Mountain. I was going to go to the aquarium but it was closed. I need to have a shower and buy some souveneirs yet!

23.30 - I am just about on my way. I'm sat in the waiting area at the airport. I have bought my gifts although most of them are for myself! There is not all that much i want to take home and give as a present! Getting here was a right farce, the airport shuttle bus was full and then the discount taxis weren't running so i ended up having to draw out another $25. I have also sent off all my postcards at last (all 20 of them)!

It took us about 3 quarters of an hour in total to get to the top but once up there the views were amazing. You could see for miles in every direction. After the hard walk up, it was definitely well worth it. There was some guy at the top talking about it being a long extinct volcano but we didn't stay to listen. After waiting 20 minutes for the bus with no sign of it coming, we decided to walk back to the hostel which took us about 45 minutes. After this, i was ready for a swim, so for first time i went down to Waikiki beach. I will be looking for som ice cream shortly as i haven't had any so far this holiday.

18.00 - I had an absolutely brilliant ice cream. It was strawberry sponge and although it cost an arm and a let, it was worth it. Tonight i am going down to watch an open air film down on the beach. I can't wait, it should be good. Hopefully i should be able to get a real drink. I haven't had one for a whole week, a new record for me! This is my last night in the hostel as tomorrow I am moving on which i am looking forward to. I have still got a full day here tomorrow though because my flight doesn't leave until late. The film was called Radio and it was a bit sad which made me feel lonely. I miss everyone from home.

It took the best part of an hour to do after which i went to the shop and bought swim shorts, beach towel, a padlock and antihystemine cream as i was bitten to shreds by the mozzies yesterday. After a quick bite to eat, i wne to catch the bus to the beach where i met some people who were on the tour yesterday. We got talking and ended up at the beach together. They are a lot older than me and we don't have much in common but hey, it's better than nothing! The beach is nice although the weather today is not up to scratch. Warm but cloudy. Snorkelling is the highlight here with lots of colourful fish but the coral reef is a bit disappointing. My neck and nose are burnt so i am covering up, not that there is any sun!

18.30 - The days just seem to be getting better. After the beach we went back to Waikiki beach to get some food at Dennys where we got talking a bit better. The guys are from Switzerland, Sweden and Liechtenstein of all places! I still feel a bit like an outsider especially since i am not old enough to even buy a drink! I think i maybe should have come travelling when i'm a bit older. Too late now though!

First we drove east along the southern coast stopping to see turtles, blowholes, old lava flows and spectacular scenery. Our guide was really informative and friendly, the weather was hot again although there were plenty of rain showers as we contnued north up the coast. The mountains were steep sided and coated in dense green vegetation, some of the valleys were used in Jurassic Park. We also stopped at a submarine pen where a lot of the deep sea research dives set out from. We saw the submarines up close and the man there explained the research they were doing. After here we headed on to Sunset Beach where a lot of the surfers hang out because of the size of the waves there. They were massive and surfers were impressive. We ate fresh pineapple whilst we watched the sun set which was beautiful, hence the name! I talked to the other guys a bit i am too shy so not a lot was said. I will try harder to make some friends tomorrow. We got back at 20.30 after 10 hours on the road.

Well, I am finally on my way! Got up at 05.00 and I am absolutely shattered. After a lot of last minute packing and rushing around, we finally got underway. The journey to Manchester was long due to heavy traffic and I couldn't sleep. It was really hard to say goodbye to everyone, one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. At the moment it seems like a bad idea and a mistake to have come travelling, especially on my own. Ah well, too late to change my mind now! I'm sure I will get over it. When i make some friends will be fine.

Just settling down for a long flight to Los Angeles. Should get some sleep hopefully. Views of ice caps over Greenland spectacluar, the snowfields just stretch on for miles. I am feeling better no but still nervous about customs and security in the US. I still haven't slept, will try again shortly.

17.45 - I'm on my last flight today on my way to Honolulu. I'm pretty sure I will sleep now, I can hardly keep my eyes open. Customs and security at LAX was scary. I had no idea what I was doing or where I was going most of the time! I'm glad it's over now, only getting to my hotel to worry about now. I can't wait to get back into a nice and soft warm bed. I might start making a video diary as well!
